Two of Australia’s most worthy charities are over-the-moon after being chosen to receive $50,000 each from the huge half-a-million dollar Dick Smith Foods Foundation give-away.
Young and old are the chief beneficiaries of Dick Smith Foods novel idea of inviting supporters to share in a total prize pool of $500,000.
Dick is presenting cheques to the happy recipients at 11 am on Tuesday 8th July at the Wayside Chapel Community Hall, 29 Hughes Street, Potts Point, Sydney. YOU ARE INVITED TO BE THERE.
So far, the Dick Smith Foods business and the new not-for-profit foundation, have given away $5.5 million.
In a new fund-raising twist, people were asked to photograph Dick Smith Foods products in their pantries to win votes for their favourite charities. The more food they bought, the more votes they racked up.
The full list of recipients will be announced on the 8th July and will appear on the Dick Smith Foods Foundation website: https://dicksmithfoods.com.au/charity-breakthrough
As a ‘Thank you’ their supporters are also named.
This big give-away is just for openers. Another $500,000, raised by the not-for-profit Dick Smith Foods Foundation, will be given away in exactly the same way in December.
In total, over the whole year, the generous donations will include four of $50,000, ten of $20,000 and 60 of $10,000. In all, a total of 74 different charities will benefit.
Dick and his wife, Pip, recently signed over the intellectual property from their food lines to the new The Dick Smith Foods Foundation to ensure all profits go to charity. Now it is up to their customers to choose which charities benefit from this largess.
So Dick’s message to caring consumers for the second half of the year is to “get buying, photographing and voting for your favourite charitable organisation to be a beneficiary of the next $500,000 in December 2014”.
