Recipient Update

On the first of March Aussie Helpers had a fantastic surprise when Dick Smith flew into outback Charleville enroute to Mornington Island. Dick was in the company of his wife Pip, Macca from the ABC Sunday with Macca and his wife Lee as well as two of Dick’s friends from Alaska.
Dick and his party were taken on a tour of Aussie Helpers head quarters/offices, warehouse and work yard where our fleet of trucks and vehicles are stored and an accommodation block for volunteers. Dick and Macca spent a lot of time speaking with the volunteers who were there at the time and to end the visit we all had lunch at a local venue (not that there are many in Charleville).
Aussie Helpers work continues and over the past few months we have sent to landholders somewhere in Queensland and NSW a road train of stock feed every two days, which is a mammoth effort to keep breeding stock alive.
A lot of work has been done in the Thargomindah, Eulo, Hungerford, Bourke and Wanaaring areas, this has involved our volunteers calling in on every sheep and cattle station we come across and spending time with the family to see how we can assist.
On 6th April we launched our new mental health program where it gives isolated people the ability to email or text a Psychologist and talk anonymously, this will make it so much easier for men, especially, to open up. In fact the use of SMS (texting) is a first in Australia for mental health our trained Doctors can be reached via www.virtualpsychologist.com.au
This week we are sending two semi-trailers and several four wheel drive vehicles to our base at Mathoura NSW to help out with the drought in Victoria and South Australia.
